Ribbon Pakoda - Ola Pakoda

Diwali is almost over but I did want to post this snack recipe for diwali. This is a very easy and wonderful snack for a festival day or even a week day. My mom used to make this pakoda for diwali when we were kids. We use love this and Its still one of my favorite savory snack dishes. This dish uses chili powder, rice flour, gram flour and roasted gram dal (pottukadalai).

Preparation time: 10 min.
Cooking time: 20 min.
Yields: 7-8 rounds.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Gram flour
  • 1/2 cup Roasted gram flour(pottukadalai)
  • 1 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • pinch of hing
  • 1/4 tbsp salt(as required)

Method:

  • Grind the roasted gram (Pottukadalai) and seive the flour.

  • Seive the rice flour and gram flour thoroughly.
  • Mix the rice flour, roasted gram flour, gram flour , chili powder, hing  and salt required.

  • Add required amount of water and mix them well to form a dough(not too thick or too loose)

  • Get the dough into a ribbon pakoda press and add deep fry it in hot oil
  • Turn it after a minute. When it is brown remove it from the hot oil.

  • Share ribbon pakoda with your friends and family.

Note:

  • Seive the flour well it will prevent lumps getting formed.
  • Do not over cook the Ribbon Pakoda.
  • You can add the garlic water instead of regular water for a garlicky twist.
