Vegetable Masala dosa/Dosa recipes/Southindian dosas

One day I made root vegetables curry for lunch and I had a whole bunch of veggies steamed and I wanted to use them, instead of storing them. I prepared the veggies as a masala for dosas and it tasted awesome and it felt like we were eating in street shops in bangalore in ITPL road. These dosa shops are very famous and they have a whole variety of dosas made in front of you so hot and so lovely ...



Preparation time:10 min(streaming the veggies)
Cooking time:20-30 min
Yields:5 dosa masalas


Ingredients:
  • 1 cup veggies steamed (I used potatoes,cauliflower,carrot).
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  • 1 onion.
  • 1/2 tomato.
  • 1 green chili.
  • 1 /4 tsp chili powder.
  • 1/4 tsp criander powder.
  • A pinch of turmeric.
  • 3 inch cinnamon stick.
  • Salt as required.
  • 1 tsp oil for tempering.
To temper:
  • 1/4 tsp Sombu/fennel
For garnishing:
  • Few corinder leaves
Method:
  • Cut the veggies in to cubes.
  • Steam and mash them well.
  • Chop onion ,tomato and green chili fine.
  • Heat the saute pan add oil to it .
  • Add fennel and cinnamon stick to it and wait until fennel changes color and nice aroma comes.
  • Add onion and green chili and saute them for few minutes.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute it until onions are translucent.
  • Add tomato and saute them until they are cooked through.
  • Add turmeric,chili and coriander powder and saute them for sometime.(around a min).
  • Add little water and let it boil for a min.
  • Add cooked mashed veggies and mix it well .
  • If the veggies are still chunky mash them.
  • Heat the dosa tava with little oil to it.
  • Add dosa batter and make a circle add 1 tsp oil and cover it with lid .
  • When its almost done  add masala to it and fold it.
  • Add little more oil to both sides and cook them until crispy.
  • Serve it with chutney or sambar .
  • No side dish is needed but you can serve it with your favourite chutneys

  6. No other breakfasts can beat Indian breakfast in taste. Really I love Indian Breakfast recipes. Especially Dosa like Vegetable masla dosa,Masala dosa, karam dosa, Egg dosa, Etc. Thanks for sharing. Best platform for learners for those who are trying to learn how to cook.
