Peanut sundal - prepared with groundnut and bisibelabath masala powder.Sundal is a healthy snack prepared with legumes. Mostly with pulses ,sometimes with lentils.Usually the pulses are soaked overnight,pressure cooked and then tempered ,if preferred some masala is added to form a protein rich and simple snack.
Peanuts are liked by all ,irrespective of age.It is not only a simple nut ,it is good for heart and prevents the risk of heart diseases.Also can be consumed by all people either rich and poor.I usually buy unshelled variety and pressure cook it with required salt and we simply eat it on evenings.Instead of having a fried item as a snack, a cutlet ,trail mix,nuts or sundal can be healthy choice for kids and adults.
Navarathri is around the corner,so thought of preparing some different variety of sundal.That day i got some leftover bisibelabath masala powder and i added it.Unbelievably it turned out super delicious.My kid who never eats verkadalai after her first attempt ,had 2-3 spoons.So this recipe is not only different and delicious it is really simple. Even you can save the little bit of masala powder that goes to garbage.

- Include in your salad along with lettuce or other greens.
- Make variety rice with your favorite masala.
- If you want to store for a longer time,make powder and add to plain rice whenever you are lazy.
- Make masala kadalai in microwave,its better than deep fried.
- If you love sandwiches then make peanutbutter.
Step by step picture recipe:
- Cook whole peanuts in pressure cooker with required water for 4 whistles.Peel the skin off and collect the verkadalai in a bowl.Add 1 tsp of oil to kadai.When the oil is hot add mustard seeds.After the mustard seeds crackle, add urad dal.
- When urad dal changes color, add curry leaves and hing.Add bisibela masala to the oil ,after few seconds add cooked peanuts too.
- Verkadalai sundal is ready to be enjoyed in few minutes.
- No need of adding coconut,red chilies separately .This is entirely tasty and so delicious snack.

- 1 tsp bisibelabath masala powder.
- 1/4 salt
- few curry leaves.
- 1 tsp oil.
- few mustard seeds.
- few urad dal.
Method:
- Cook whole peanuts in pressure cooker with required water for 4 whistles.
- Peel the skin off and collect the verkadalai in a bowl.
