Trail mix a nutritious snack with nuts and dried fruits. These are very easy to whip up in a short time and can be best travel companion when you go on a long drive or hiking on trails. They can be good snack for kids or can be healthy mid day meal after breakfast or lunch for adults.Usually trail mix have nuts and dried fruits, now a days there are many different combinations of them.
Commercial ones are usually full of ground nuts or may not be the nuts of your choice, also the nuts in there are roasted with lots of salt to preserve their freshness or to increase their taste. There are lots and lots of chocolate like m & m ,which i really don't prefer having in my healthiest food.
If you make trail mix at home, then you can mix and match the items of your choice.Skip groundnuts, add pumpkin seeds or dried figs. Its up to you and your choice of ingredients.
Here i am trying a copycat recipe which we love to eat back home when we were kids.It is so costly and generally considered to be one of the rich foods that time(India was not commercialised that time). Now a days you get most of the items in India.
Here in US i get all nuts and dried fruits,so i got to try my first choice nuts mix.Even though i like commercial ones for their easy accessibility(usually nuts or dried fruits have a high shel life)i love the ones which i make from scratch without any additives , no extra salt or sugar also with my personal choice of nuts and dried fruits trail mix a lot more better.
Like this recipe, easy and nutritious snack is your choice pasipayaru sundal, kadala paruppu sundal, mochai sundal comes in the same catergory.
