Baked Jeera Biscuits | Healthy Snack Ideas | Wheat Cookies

Jeera Biscuits a tasty melt in mouth cookies made with whole wheat flour.Nothing can beat the taste of home made baked goodies, cumin biscuits is one among them.I don't make fried items for snack very often either i make sundal or some baked items.I even make sweets very rare.If its an occasion or festival i can make exception.By doing this way we can inspire the younger generations to be more healthy, accept me?

Biscuits has to be flaky and soft in US where as in India it has to be more crispier. If you make them with maida, you get a  flaky texture. When whole wheat flour is added cookies will be nutty and not so flaky.Even though its not as flaky as maida biscuits we can compromise on the taste a little bit if its going to be healthy, right?.

These savory cookies can be a great accompaniment for tea time.If you are really not worried make with maida ,not a big deal. You can add ajwain instead of jeera if you like the ajwain flavor.Even you can make in shapes of your preferences.I made them in diamond shapes.
This  baked Indian cookies/biscuits are without baking powder ,baking soda and egg also with no sugar as well.So its the best savory version of  cookies to accompany hot cup of tea/chai.

Variations you can make to this cookies:
  • Add maida instead of whole wheat flour to make them taste great and it will be more flaky.
  • Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of oil instead of butter ,still you have to add little butter. This can be harder ,not flaky as the butter version.
  • You can add ghee instead of butter, but results may vary .
  • Add baking soda and baking powder to make it even more flakier( i def will not opt this option).
