Graham Crackers a healthy cookie originally created with graham flour by Sylvester graham. Graham flour is a combination of finely ground unbleached wheat flour and coarsely ground endosperm,wheat bran . It is considered as a health food as a part of graham diet.Graham diet is a special diet following vegetarianism and not to use alcohol .There is abundant of fresh vegetables,fruits and also has milk and milk by-products.
These graham crackers are commonly called as sugar or honey-sweetened baked good close to a cookie. Gradually it's become part of American diet after its being invented. Still not getting what is graham cracker mean?- is a cookie which is crunchy and is used widely to make crust while making pie's and for making sandwich cookies or can be eaten as is for a snack. Now innovation part has gone wild ,you can try making a cupcake,ice cream or some dessert which should be not too sweet and also has some crunchy parts in between.
How is this going to taste? I can explain it to you before you could have an actual taste .from what I had experienced " It is a little sweet,salty,crunchy and has a light tinge of cinnamon" .So your kids are going to love this new recipe you are going to make for them.
Why is this recipe so good? These crackers are made from scratch. It is made of whole wheat flour and with less sugar. Easy to bake in just 10 minutes .A very easy recipe without added preservatives and with the use of fresh ingredients. It can stay good in an airtight container for 10-15 days.So it's a perfect treat for kids and for parties or as a gift.
Step by Step picture recipe for making graham cracker recipe:
- Grease the baking sheet with oil or parchment paper.
- In a small mixer add cinnamon and sugar.Pulse to a fine powder.If using castor sugar and cinnamon powder skip this step.In a large bowl mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Pour in oil, vanilla extract, and milk one at a time.Use your hands to knead the dough until it holds together, adds an extra tablespoon of water or milk if needed .I added 1 -2 tbsp of water to make it to a Hard dough.
- Now divide the dough into 3 portions. Flatten one portion with your hands and use a rolling pin to make it to an even flattened chapati. It should be little thick (at least half an inch). Cut into a rectangle and cut into even shape.Uneven shapes make the baking uneven.
- Preheat oven to 300 F.
- Gather the scraps of dough and form into a ball again and then roll it to a rectangle, or the desired shape. Cut the edges evenly and slice to 4 crackers then transfer every cracker to the baking sheet carefully.
- Score each cookie with a fork . Not too much but enough to give a look of graham crackers.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.Take it out and cool completely.
- Tasty graham crackers are ready.use it for making pie or ice cream sandwiches

- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour.
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
- 1/2 teaspoon salt.
- 1/3 cup brown sugar(can use molasses if using white).
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
- 1/4 cup oil.
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract.
- 1/4 cup milk (for vegan version use soy milk).
- 1 -2 tbsp water.
Instructions

- Mine was crunchy, but not much. So bake it little more time without burning the cookies to get a more crunchy taste.
- Add more sugar if you wish it to be like store bought cookies.
