Indian Style Rava Toast Recipe | Bread Recipes

       Rava toast one of the quickest snack /breakfast you can make at home for kids/adults.Eating plain toast every day can be boring sometimes.Also, this can be helpful at times when you don't have anything to cook, but you want something spicy and Indian. You can make your snack/breakfast in a jiffy and satisfy your hunger.

        It takes less than 10-15 minutes to make, that too with the ingredients available at home.Can you believe it ?  Yes !! This Bread Can be a filling meal and you can say(lie) it as bread pizza to kids. They can enjoy as is or along with some tomato ketchup(I always stay away from ketchup).
    In India, north or south everybody like to have breakfast with semolina either rava idli,Rava dosa, Rava upma or in the form of laddu or Kesari. This is one such recipe with sooji that is going to be added in your frequent filling meal list.

 For making rava toast you can use any kind of bread either white,wheat or multigrain.Toast  until crisp and then apply the filling. Toast the filling until crisp and you can have it. hmm, delicious.

Step by step picture recipe for making sooji semolina toast:
  • Roast sooji in a pan until you get the aroma.Grate carrot and grate the ginger as well and keep it aside.Slice the green chili into thin pieces(Later remove while serving for kids) , chop the coriander leaves, chop onion into very thin pieces .

  • Mix Rava,onion,green chili,ginger,curd and coriander leaves in a bowl.
  • Add required salt and little turmeric as well to the bowl.Mix to form a thick paste.Toast the bread until crispy .Apply the paste one side.

  •  Flip to make the filling side face down on the pan.Add ghee/oil  to both sides.Then Roast until crispy and brown.

  •  Slice the bread rectangle or triangle and serve with tomato ketchup or as is.

                                                          Indian Style Sooji Toast

Ingredients:
  • 4 bread slices(I used multigrain).
  • 2 tbsp sooji/Rava/semolina.
  • 2 tbsp curd/yogurt.
  • 1 small carrot.
  • 1 green chili/pacha milagai.
  • 1 small piece ginger/inji.
  • coriander leaves/kothamalli.
  • salt as required.
  • 1 onion thinly sliced/vengayam.

Method:
  • Roast sooji in a pan until you get the aroma.
  • Grate carrot and grate the ginger as well and keep it aside.
  • Slice the green chili into thin pieces(Later remove while serving for kids) , chop the coriander leaves, chop onion into very thin pieces .
  • Mix Rava,onion,green chili,ginger,curd and coriander leaves in a bowl.

  • Mix to form a thick paste.
  • Toast the bread until crispy .Apply the paste one side.
  •  Flip to make the filling side face down on the pan.
  • Add ghee/oil  to both sides.
  • Then Roast until crispy and brown.
  • Rava Toast ready. Slice the bread rectangle or triangle and serve with tomato ketchup or as is.

Note:
  • Apply the paste  even on the slices. otherwise, there will be uneven cooking.
  • Roast the bread  crispy before and after applying.
  • Don't apply the paste too thick.It will make the bread go soft and not  crisp.
