Sprouts - what is it ? Its a nutrition packed whole grain with more fiber.Its really easy to make your own, in our house.When you make at home its fresh without any additives and or preservatives.Basically its a power house of vitamin K,folate,vitamin c and Vitamin A.More minerals like copper,zinc ,magnesium,iron and calcium.All these vitamins and minerals will be in tact when its not Heated.
So eating raw sprouts bring in benefits and some bacteria like E-coli as well.So if you suspect any bacterial infection, better heat and eat(I Hear you ,am really confused as to cook or not to cook now ).
Some of the health benefits include improving digestion because of its fiber content also has less starch and less gas than its unsprouted counter parts.
When you are looking for fiber content then you can cook your sprouts for sure.They are a great way to cure your constipation as well as diarrhea and can prevent some cancer.Remember ..Digestion of raw foods takes place in half the time compared to cooked food.So decide for yourself and serve a generous amount.If you happen to buy it from outside, be sure to buy from reputed store and wash before serving raw in your salad.

- Wash the grains 2-3 times without loosing the small grains like horse gram and green gram.
- Soak it for around 8 hours.So that every bean get time to absorb some water in it.
- If using Regular Pot: Drain all the water and Close the pot with lid .If its day, every few hours just mix to make all of them get enough air to sprout.
- Check it after a day. kidney bean is not the one which is sprouted,other grains had a good tail.

- 1/4 cup Kondakadalai/black chickpeas.
- 1/4 cup kidney beans.
- 1/4 cup mochai/Field beans.
- 1/4 cup pattani/Dried green peas.
- 1/2 cup Pasipayaru/green gram.
- 1/2 cup Kollu/horse gram.
Method:
- Add everything to a bowl deep that's enough to hold the soaked grains.
- Wash the grains 2-3 times without loosing the small grains like horse gram and green gram.
- Soak it for around 8 hours.So that every bean get time to absorb some water in it.
Methods of Sprouting:
- If using Regular Pot: Drain all the water and Close the pot with lid .If its day, every few hours just mix to make all of them get enough air to sprout.
- If using cloth : After draining all the water put them inside and tie. Hang the tied cloth in tap (you can tie in nail too,but some bean may not get enough oxygen.
- If using colander: Add drained bean to the colander or any holed plate large enough and keep another bowl on the bottom of colander to give a nice airflow.
- Check it after a day. kidney bean is not the one which is sprouted,other grains had a good tail.
- So your mixed bean spouts are ready .Use it for preparing salad,masala ,dosa or anything you wish.
