Millet Dosa | Millet Breakfast Recipes

Millet's are known for its health benefits. If you don't know what is millet make sure you read it before proceeding.
Millet's can be consumed just like rice that said you can try a dosa with it.This millet dosa is very good for a healthy start of the day.If you are doing millet dosa for breakfast grind the batter the  day before and ferment it.
I used samai/sama/little millet/chama for making this dosa. This Little millet dosa is very crisp and filling .You can try dosa with other Millet's too.I haven't used rice in this dosa because we normally eat rice every meal be it dosa, idly or for lunch .If you want to include rice add one cup, add 1/2 cup of urad Dal too and follow the same procedure. If you want the dosa to be soft you can add sabudana/javarisi while grinding.Sabudana has to be soaked along with little millet.

Masala Dosa|Dosa Recipe

Masala Dosa-A very famous dosa among Indians and in places where Indians live.Masala dosa is a south Indian speciality. Its a dosa with crispy outer layer and soft sweet and spicy potato filling inside..It is really easy to make masala dosa at home if you have idly-dosa batter.Dosa batter is readily available at Indian stores .If you can't make it at home, get some before you start making this dosa.Make potato masala, stuff them inside dosa  and enjoy.
Key thing to note here is masala has to be little sweet compared to poori bhaji,so be careful not to add too much spice.I added carrot and red onion to make it sweet ,if you are short of carrots you can ad fresh or frozen peas to make the masala.Otherwise add some sugar to make the masala sweet .Dosa layer has to be crisp,to do so leave it tava/pan for some more time after the dosa is done.If its too much crisp it will spoil the masala dosa texture. Here is how to make masala dosa ?

Tomato Dosa/Instant Dosa/Easy Dosa Recipe/Breakfast recipes

My hubby and my kid love dosa. I try to hide the  ingredients that they don't like in the dosa and the dosas will be devoured in an instant. My hubby likes specific sourness like tamarind, lemon but is not a fan of tomatoes. One time I made tomato kulambhu he didn't like it.
I wanted to try this tomato dosa for sometime, but was little skeptical how he will respond. To my surprise he liked the dosa very much. More over  this dosa requires not much fermentation .Dosas like this are  good if you forget to get your rice dosa batter out for fermentation or you don't have enough batter left for an unexpected guest.
In a jiffy you can prepare this for them and they would be surprised !how fast you are?  how good and different the dosa taste?

Lentils- Adai dosa

Adai dosa is a very nutritious dish. This used be a weekend special when I grew up. I never liked Adai when I was a kid, but my mom forced me to eat it because it had lots of lentils. Once I grew up and went to college I started liking this dish more and more and now its one of my favorites.

Adai Aviyal is a very famous dish in Tamil restaurants. When you want  a little change from the same old Dosa recipes you can prepare Adai. Actually the making Adai batter is much easier than making Idly or Dosa Batter. Here is the recipe.

Preparation time:15 min
Cooking time:5 min (each dosa)
Serves:3-4

Pesarattu|Moong Dal Dosa

Pesarattu is a Dosa  unique to Telugu cuisine/Andhra.Pesarattu is made out of Green moong/Moong dal but unlike a dosa, it does not contain Urad dal.Its green colour attracts kids more so you can put this moong dal dosa in their mouth without much fuss. You can also make pesarattu paniyaram or small pesarattu dosa along with grated carrot and nuts with the same moong dal batter.
pesarattu dosa

I love this pesarattu because it is healthy and it tastes wonderful.Making pesarattu with sprouted moong dal makes your breakfast even more healthier. In andhra pesarattu is served with upma,or onions in the middle .I instead added finely chopped onions to the dosa batter. To make the dosa crispier you can add rice flour to the batter andcan  oil to the bottom while making dosa.
