How to make ginger chutneyCuisine: Indian Category:Side dish Serves:2 Prep time:5 minutes Cook time:5 minutes Total time:15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 Big onion.
- 2 red chilies.
- 1/4 cup fresh chopped ginger/inji(peeled and washed).
- 1/4 cup bengal gram/kadala paruppu.
- 1 tbsp oil.
- 1 tsp jaggery(optional),gives a little kick to the chutney.
- little tamarind(optional) ,reduce the spiciness of ginger.
- Add tbsp of oil to tava and fry chopped ginger pieces for 5 minutes or until it shrinks(this step is to take excess spice in ginger).
- Take the fried ginger out and add bengal gram and red chilies to same oil and fry it until colour changes .
- Add onions and saute until it turns translucent.
- Cool everything(ginger,onion,bengal gram,red chilies)and grind it along with required salt,tamarind and jaggery.
- Ginger chutney is ready to be served.You can have it with pesarattu,vendhaya dosai or any dosa,idli.
Note:
- You can omit adding onions to this ginger chutney as i said earlier.
- If you don't like adding tamarind or jaggery then omit it,but chutney will have the spiciness of ginger.
