Tutti Frutti Recipe | Candied Raw Papaya Recipe

        Tutti Fruity is nothing but candied papaya.There are many version of candied papaya .This is the Indian version of papaya tutti frutti.There is no much ingredients needed for preparing ,but you need a lot of patience to get a good result.I have prepared it once but without any color in a hurry i didn't soaked in sugar syrup for long and finally ended up throwing them.So be patient and you will see it when you end up eating it.

        In Indian style of making papaya there is no rum or fruits other than papaya.Adding of Colors while making is entirely optional but  gives an appealing and glossy look to the final candied papaya .You can use tutti frutti in buns,cake or you can decorate/garnish in any desserts even ice creams and Popsicles.I eat tutti frutti as is.You can also do that :)

Other basic recipe of how to rice flour,coconut milk,garam masala ,peanut butter.



Step by step picture recipe for making homemade candied papaya:
  • Wash the papaya very well.Peel completely and remove the seeds if any ,and also the white layer in the middle.Chop papaya in to cubes and keep it aside.

  • Add 4 cups of water to a deep pan.When it is boiling add papaya pieces.Let it sit in the water for 3 minutes then switch off the flame.Let the pieces sit in water for another 5 minutes or until they look transparent.Strain the water and keep the pieces aside.Don't hurry or cook too long.This will make the pieces go either not blanched properly or mushy.

  • Add 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water to deep bowl.After the sugar dissolves,add the blanched pieces.Sugar syrup has to get thick and it has to coat the papaya pieces.When you see the sugar syrup thickens switch off the stove.

  • Add colors in to 3 separate bowls.Add sugar coated papaya equally in all the bowls.This has to stay in colored water for 24 hours to get a better coat of colors.After the syrup got cooled ,cover the bowls and keep it aside until the next day. Strain the excess sugar syrup and spread the tutti fruity in a wire rack to air dry.

  • It has to be dried in shade for 1 day or until there is no stickiness in the tutti fruity.

  • Store the pieces in airtight container or Ziploc cover and keep refrigerated until use.

  • When you see the sugar syrup thickens,switch off the stove.

  • Add sweet papaya pieces equally in all the bowls.
  • This has to be in colored water for 24 hours to get a better coat of colors.
  • Strain the excess sugar syrup and spread the tutti fruity in a wire rack.
  • Drty in shade for 1 day or until there is no stickiness in the tutti fruity.
  • Store the pieces in airtight container or Ziploc cover and keep refrigerated until use.
  • Homemade Tutti frutti is ready to enjoy.

This can be used in cakes.buns,Popsicles ,bars,ladoos etc
