Sprouts Salad Recipe | Diet Recipes | Healthy Recipes

      Sprouts salad a healthy raw salad made with moong bean and black chickpea.Making of moong bean sprout is very easy but not black chickpea.But the time moong bean is sprouted well chana will start to sprout.

    We like our fruits and veggies as is.But salad's can be quick,very light and really refreshing.Salad can make a really quick mid time meal or a quick healthy lunch.I really know very few salad like sprout salad or simple salad with lemon dressing .I love to munch some moong Dal salad or kosumbari, served in karnataka during festival times.Here In US people eat variety of salad with vegetables to get fiber in diet, as they eat lot of meat.

     This raw salad is really really easy ,just mix up the ingredients and eat it any time of the day.You can pack it for your lunch box,if you are really not in the mood to cook.This sprouts salad i used to eat once in a while when i was pregnant.Even ,its good for women planning to,because the folic acid in the moong bean help DNA production,creating and maintaining new cells and for making healthy red cells,where as black chana is good for eyes.
I like to include chana whenever i could like making blackchana curry or bhel  or even chana rice or kondakadalai sundal.
  Sprouts salad is really light and is best for diet watchers and who want to be fit.If you are really worried about bacteria in the raw sprouts,then cook salad 50 percent and add other ingredients.

One word of caution:
This should not be given to kids,pregnant women and elder people who has a weak immune system because of bacteria.

 Cuisine: Indian  Category:Snack  Serve:1  Prep time:8 hours+8 hours Cook time:nil  Total Time:16 hours

  • 1 hand full of green gram/moong bean/pasipayaru/whole moong
  • 1/2 hand chana/black chickpea/kondakadalai.
  • 1 small onion.
  • 1 /2 tomato.
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder or adjust as per your taste.
  • lemon juice for taste.
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing.
  • salt as required(1/2 tsp).
Making Sprout moong salad:

  • Soak moong bean and black chana for 6-8 hours.

  • Drain the excess water.
  • Cover with a lid and sprout them overnight.

  • Next day morning chop onion,tomato coriander leaves.
  • Mix onion,tomato,coriander leaves to sprouts.

  • Add chili powder,lemon juice and required salt.

  • Mix everything together very well.
  • Your sprout salad is ready ..Enjoy !!!
