Plantain Chips Recipe | Kerala Nendran Chips
Plantain chips-My very favorite, right from childhood.Dad gets it whenever he visits iyappan temple.Plantain chips are really addictive, can't stop with one packet he he.

Eggless Banana Cake - a moist cake made with pressure cooker.I have been getting request for a pressure cooker based cake since i started blogging.I have tried it 2 -3 times since then.But missed taking pictures of it.This time i got a video recipe(as a bonus) of Eggless pressure cooker banana cake.Hope you guys like the video.Share your thoughts in the video,so that i can do more of it if you guys like it.
I added walnuts to make the cake more interesting ,but you can add what ever nuts you have at hand.You can double or triple the recipe if you wish.

Raw Banana - Vazhakkai Varuval | Rice Side Dish
Raw Banana a much loved vegetable in our house.I do something with this veggie, for rice once in a week ,be it vazhakkai podimas, vazhakkai fry , enna vazhakkai .This type of vazhakkai varuval has become the most favourite after i tried.

Chocolate Banana Smoothie|Breakfast Smoothie
What is a smoothie?What is a milkshake ?What is the difference between smoothie and a milkshake?
This smoothie i did for cooking secretly challenge started by priya suresh sis .This month my pair is sailaja reddy .She gave two wonderful ingredients ,Cocoa and banana..After hearing the ingredients i decided to do this smoothie ..Because drinks are rare happenings in mykitchenodyssey right ?
I won't click and post smoothies and drinks which my daughter always demands.The ones i posted are strawnerry milkshake when strawberry is in season, lemon sharbath during summers,peach lassi when i buy peach.
This is a skinny version ,you can very well add full fat milk and a very large banana and add more cocoa powder to make it more sweeter and thick smoothie.I personally don't like much sweet, so used less cocoa powder and no honey.Adding of peanut butter is optional.But it gives a nice touch to the smoothie.
This is very filling smoothie.If you are in a hurry for a breakfast but forgot or don't have anything to cook .This smoothie is the best option.

RawBanana fry/Easy sidedish/எண்ணெய் வாழைக்காய்
Banana tree is one useful tree from top to bottom. In India Banana leaf meal is very famous and it has many healthy benefits too. Banana flower is used for making vadas and dry curry which is very nutritious (has iron and helps in getting regular periods ). Banana stem can be served as a dry dish and with dal. Ripe bananas we eat everyday and it has lots of pottasium which is good for high blood pressure .Raw bananas can be fried, or with besan flour it can be made as a yummy evening snack . So when you have a backyard why not grow banana tree .
I usually do variations on banana fry one is directly adding in oil. Other one is this ,Boiling the bananas in water to give a soft texture and later frying (not deep fried) in oil. This method works faster and has less oil compared to the other method.
First time when I ate it in my aunts house I became a fan. From that time I wanted to try and make this dish in my house. When I did this I was excited and was happy with the result.
This goes very well this sambar and curd rice.

Banana oats muffin/Breakfast muffin/Healthy muffins
I wanted to use up the bananas which were laying in pantry for a long time. My daughter eats morning breakfast at home and goes to school (Even though most kindergarten schools provide breakfast ), so wanted to make her a healthy breakfast alternative apart from cereals (she loves cereals). Oats is a healthy whole grain and it has many benefits lowering cholesterol being one of them.
Muffins when made correctly are an healthy alternative to our staples idly, dosa. No butter not much oil and is low in calories compared to cakes. No heavy beating of eggs, cream, butter and sugar. Mix the ingredients ,fill the cups ,bake it .Your muffins will be ready .Very easy and they are very very filling too .You can store this for 3-4 days it an airtight container. Kids love eating them whenever they wish .
Preparation time:10-15 min
Cooking time:16-20 min

- Remove the banana cover one by one and remove the stem and cut it in to small pieces.

Raw Banana fry -Vaalaikai varuval
Raw Banana (வாழைக்காய்) and Indian egg plant (கத்தரிக்காய்) are two vegetables which get used almost always in Chettinad cuisine. In weddings and functions they get used in a variety of ways.
When I was a kid we used to have Curd rice with Raw banana fry for lunch. It brings me back memories. This is a Chettinad specialty and every house hold has its own version. Off late I have had a hard time finding fresh raw bananas. I got lucky this weekend, I found some fresh bananas in the Indian grocery store. I ended up buying four of them and used two in this recipe.
