Peas pulao - a simple one pot meal made with peas. This rice is very mild even your kids will like it for sure.Are you bored of always making biryani on a weekend? I was bored of biriyani and was craving a quick rice dish that fills the tummy and adds some nutrition too. This peas pulao fall in the easy and healthy category. No masalas, no fancy ingredients only basmati rice with little seasoning. Your rice will be ready in under 25 min. Yeah !! Just the time you are getting ready this will be ready for your tiffin box. A spicy side makes the lunch so special.
This is a north Indian variety rice with a mild spice, so you can give it to kids for the lunchbox.If you are a spice lover, have with a spicy gravy or kuruma of your choice. I will go for a protein rich curry like green moong which makes the complete or lazy days sprinkle some mixture on top.

Step by step picture recipe for making Matar pilaf:
- Wash and soak the rice for 15 min or more.The more time you soak rice will be lengthy.But be careful not to add too much water.In case if your rice becomes mushy after pressure cooking, cool and serves with the side.
- Chop the onions and green chilies.If you are using fresh peas peel and keep it ready ( I used frozen peas so used instantly.This peas can be little sweet compared to fresh peas).
- When the pressure cooker is hot, add the required oil/Ghee.
- Add cumin seeds and wait until it changes color then add ginger garlic paste and saute it for a second.
- Add onions and green chilies and saute them until they are translucent.
- Add peas and saute it along with turmeric and garam masala.
- Drain excess water in the soaked rice.
- Add it to the cooker and leave for a minute so that it gets the flavors of onion, ginger garlic.
- Add required water up to 3 cups and add little drops of oil(oil helps the rice not to become mushy).
- Add required salt and pressure cook it for 1 whistle. Switch off the stove and take the cooker out of the stove.
- Remove the pressure after 5 minutes.Your lunch is ready.
- Tasty simple rice is ready to be relished.Enjoy your lunch.
How to make Matar ka pulao recipe

- 1 1/2 cup basmati rice.
- 3 cups water.
- salt as required.
- 3 green chilies.
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
- A pinch of turmeric.
- 1 cup green peas /matar.
- A pinch of garam masala(optional).
To Temper:
- Oil/ghee for tempering.
- 1 tsp cumin seeds/Jeera.
To garnish:
Fresh chopped coriander leaves(optional)

Note:
- If you overcooked the rice, cool and serve.
- Don't forget to add a drop of oil.
- The more time you soak the lengthy it will become.
- You can cook this in tava instead of a pressure cooker.
Cooker is my savior every day and yes, sometimes we need a break from briyani and dive into matar pulao. As said many a times, I'm a big fan of rice and......... I am loving this dish all the way.
